What is Baccarat?

Baccarat is a popular card game in which players wager on one of three outcomes: the banker winning, the player winning, or a tie. Game Rules

Punto banco, baccarat chemin de fer, and baccarat banque are all variations of the game. These versions differ in some ways, but the overall gameplay and goal remain the same. You begin by betting on the banker, the player, or the event of a tie. The two hands in the game are the banker and the player, and the goal is to be the hand with the highest value (closest to nine). In baccarat, the highest possible hand value is nine, and hands are valued based on the units digit of the sum of their constituent cards. The value of an ace is one, the value of cards 2-9 is their face value, and the value of 10, J, Q, and K is zero.

The game begins with both the player and the banker being dealt two cards. The player then predicts whether their hand, the banker's hand, or both will add up to nine, or which hand will come closest. Except for the 10 and face cards, which are worth zero, and the Ace, which is worth one, all cards in Baccarat Poker count as their face value. If the total of the cards is greater than nine, the value is reset to zero.
